For our curriculum I custom design our days based on what the kids are into and what works best. I'm really all about learning through play and discovery and open ended options. Sensory play and not over directing the kids. Letting them lead the way. I have gotten away from planning our days too far in advanced. I want to see what the kids interests are in and what they want to do or maybe taking a favorite book a step farther or setting up our environment to encourage and empower some skills I see are needed. I like plopping out supplies and toys and seeing where the kids take it and how they can learn their social and emotional skills in just playing and problem solving amongst each other, with out a ton of interference or over direction. Encourage little engineers and imagination and scientists and peace makers ect! Let them become the little people they were meant to be with proper boundaries and lots of opportunities to explore roles and new experiences. Hitting those social skills required for Kindergarten are most important. Independence skills, self regulation, empathy, compassion, confidence, and encouraging curious minds and questions and helping kids learn to figure things out for themselves. I am not a complete play school. I do believe there is time for directed activities and academic lessons with circle time and calendar time and directed table time. However I really try to keep it child lead and just encourage their interests with environment.
For babies we get lots of snuggles and love while mom and dad are working. I also make sure they are getting lots of floor time and we work on their individual goals as well. Like waving or clapping or head control or sitting or crawling reading books and babbling playing peek a boo. I love using American sign language with babies and toddlers to help them learn to communicate. Being outside and sensory development and gross motor play and nursery rhymes and books and songs and circle is so good for them too! I try to have lang and lit 1 on 1 everyday with books and pointing and naming things everywhere all day!
